About Sidney Williams

photoSidney Williams (www.sidneywilliams.com), Some may know him as Rev. Williams, others as an astute intellectual, a financier, entrepreneur, and still others as a beloved father, husband and loyal friend. No matter your point of reference, there are few places you will travel on this side of heaven without hearing about the compassion Rev. Williams has for underserved communities. Rev. Williams was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 21, 1968. Nurtured in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, with significant Pentecostal and Evangelical influences, Rev. Williams preached his first sermon at the tender age of fifteen. His experiences nurtured his unique call to the ministry of economic development and honed his distinct ability to transcend tradition in his delivery of the gospel, through widening spiritual parameters in order to reach diverse people of manifold backgrounds, cultures, and denominations.

Rev. Williams has committed himself to studying the intersection of Theology and Economics. After obtaining Bachelors of Business Administration from Howard University, Rev. Williams earned a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business in 1994 and then later earned a Masters of Divinity from the Wesley Theological Seminary in 2008. Prior to accepting his call to ordained ministry in 2004, Rev. Williams worked for the leading Wall Street firms in New York City and helped to start several companies.

Rev. Williams has a profound prophetic mantle that distinguishes him as a remarkable visionary who has made a powerful impact in the Faith and Business communities. He has traveled across the world, preaching, lecturing, teaching, encouraging and strengthening the faith of people across the globe from Los Angeles to New York and from the Caribbean to Africa. He has also lectured in graduate business programs and taught corporate executives from Asia, Europe and the United States. His preaching and teaching focuses on empowering both believers and non-believers to work together to make the world a better place for generations to come. Rev. Williams is a frequently requested guest on major news media on issues of faith and economics. Most recently, Fox Business News requested Rev. Williams to respond to the Encyclical Letter from Pope Benedict XVI on Love in Truth - Caritas in Veritate.

In 2005, Rev. Williams founded Ekos Ministries, Inc.(EKOS), in an effort to address the church’s inability to achieve transformation outcomes in a climate of increasingly difficult economic times. EKOS primary focus is to equip leaders of faith communities with the tools and resources required to meet both the physical as well as the spiritual needs of the people they serve. Some of the programs are delivered through seminaries and universities in Africa and the United States. Rev. Williams has only just begun to make an indelible mark on the world, triumphantly reclaiming territory for the Kingdom of God through his philanthropy, service and economic development efforts. In spite of the awesome anointing on his life, Rev. Williams is still humble enough to “keep it real.”

Rev. Williams is the proud husband of Teresa Williams, and a devoted father to his precious little ladies, Nicole, Sarah, Hannah Rose and his only son, Sidney III (Will).

Vocation is the place God calls you to, the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."
